AOCs Among Us Twitch Stream Raised $200K for Charity
U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's second Among Us Twitch stream recently raised $200,000 for eviction defense and food pantries.

U.S. Representative for New York Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's second Among Us Twitch stream raised $200,000 for eviction defense and food pantries this past Friday.
It's been reported that Cortez's stream lasted about six hours and featured other political gamers including Canadian Parliament Member Jagmeet Singh and U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar. The gaming session marks Cortez's second Among Us livestream in the past month. "We did it," wrote Cortez in a celebratory tweet following the stream. Cortez went on to explain that the whole idea for the fundraiser a day after Thanksgiving was on a whim. She added that it would make a significant difference for those in economic crisis.

We did it! $200k raised in one livestream (on a whim!) for eviction defense, food pantries, and more. This is going to make such a difference for those who need it most right now. Thank you all πΎπ https://t.co/KX5m5GXJ9B
The stream went off without any hitches from hackers that spammed the game after Cortez's first fundraiser back in October. The representative's online political efforts first gained ground this past summer after raising $66,000 in less than an hour on Instagram for undocumented people.
As far as livestreams go in the future, Cortez has made it clear that she wants to host another one soon. She currently has more than 800,000 followers on Twitch.
