How Much Among Us Costs On Switch
Among Us is out now on Nintendo Switch, and although the mobile version was available to players for free, the Switch port of Among Us isn't.
InnerSloth's hit social deduction game Among Us is out now on Nintendo Switch, but it isn't free like the mobile version is. In fact, the Nintendo Switch version of Among Us costs just as much as the game does on Steam, which actually makes a lot of sense since it also includes certain clothing items which aren't immediately available to mobile Among Us players.
Although the game originally launched in 2018, it wasn't until earlier this year that Among Us took the gaming community by storm and became one of the most-watched titles on streaming sites like Twitch. Fresh off some much-deserved wins at The Game Awards 2020, along with the reveal of a brand-new Among Us map, recently Nintendo announced InnerSloth's popular title was coming to the Switch console - and then revealed it was available immediately.
For players who already have Among Us on their phones and/or PCs, they might not be as interested in getting yet another version - unless everyone in their home wants to play Among Us at the same time, that is. Thankfully, Among Us on Switch costs $4.99 USD - the same price as it does on PC. This means buying a copy of Among Us to have on a portable device like a Switch, as well as purchasing it on PC, is still cheaper than buying most other video games - many of which off much less replayability than Among Us does.
What Problems Among Us' Switch Crossplay Brings
Playing Among Us on Switch is pretty much exactly the same as the experience on other platforms, only the controls are different and players must use the touchscreen keypad to participate in Emergency Meeting discussions about Impostors. While there may not be any brand-new features which are exclusive to Nintendo's console, playing Among Us on Switch does offer crossplay with both the mobile and the PC versions of the game - something which is both good and bad, thanks to hackers.
Hackers and cheaters in Among Us have been a serious issue ever since the game rose in popularity, and although InnerSloth is working on anti-hack and anti-cheat software solutions right now the only thing most players can do is ban and kick players who they think are cheating. Crossplay in Among Us is great for players who are using different platforms to be able to interact with each other, but it also means all the new Nintendo Switch Among Us players are now at the mercy of the game's PC hackers. Because of this, and also because of the inherent dangers of communicating with strangers online which are prevalent in every mobile title, parents should be cautious when buying Among Us on the Switch for their children this holiday season.
