Why Among Us Impostor Deserves To Be In Smash Bros
Smash Ultimate might have a massive roster, but it needs better indie game representatives. That's why Nintendo should add Among Us' Impostor.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has expanded to become one of the most comprehensive crossover fighting games out there. The platform brawler's roster has expected to house 79 distinct fighters from 38 different game franchises, and two more spots remain for DLC Fighters Pass 2, which could add more iconic game series to Smash Ultimate. This extensive cast of playable characters has made Nintendo's fighting game the de facto gaming hall of fame to many, but there's a distinct lack of indie game representatives in Smash Ultimate, which is why Among Us' Impostor deserves to be added as a future Smash DLC character.
The Smash Ultimate roster doesn't include any characters created by indie developers, aside from the Cuphead and Sans from Undertale Mii Fighter costumes that need to be purchased separately. There are a handful of other Assist Trophy and Spirit indie reps, like Shovel Knight and Shantae, but these in-game items are minor parts of Smash Ulitmate. The title is in dire need of better indie representation, especially since 2020 was such a monumental year for smaller studios. Titles Among Us, Hades, Ghostrunner, and many other releases proved they could be every bit as great as their AAA counterparts. Among Us' Impostor should join the Smash Ultimate roster as one of hopefully many more indie fighters to come.
Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai has already stated that the remaining two slots for Fighters Pass 2 have been decided. It's improbable that one of them will end up being an Impostor from Among Us, but there's some hope that the bean-shaped murderer could be added later on. Rumor has it there will be a third Smash Ulitmate Fighters Pass, so not all hope is lost for the murder-mystery game.
Among Us Needs To Come To Smash Ultimate

Aside from better indie representation, many gamers have expressed interest in having an Among Us character added to the Smash Ultimate roster. Fans have even brainstormed and designed what an Among Us astronaut's move set could look like if Nintendo were to add them to the fighting game. While the company has never been one to add every fan-requested character, it has recently introduced some long-asked-for fighters that players once thought would never be added to the title.
The addition of Minecraft Steve shocked Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fans and introduced a plethora of new game mechanics, making the block-shaped fighter one of the most intricate DLCs in the game's history. Introducing the Among Us Impostor could be the perfect way to shock fans while better balancing its roster to better represent the stellar indie games that have recently dominated the gaming industry - and since Among Us is on Switch now, it's a no-brainer.
