Why You Cant Type In Among Us
After a recent update in Among Us, some players are discovering they can no longer type in the game. Here's why it happens and how to fix it.
The last major update for Among Us brought the Airship, the game's largest map ever, but the social deduction game has continued to get smaller updates since. Any time an update for Among Us releases, there are often bugs or other problems to smooth out. Sometimes, this means players discover they can't type in Among Us anymore - but there are often other explanations as well. Here's why it can look like Among Us removed chat features, and how to fix it.
In addition to the Airship, developer InnerSloth has added in updates that include color changes, 15-player lobbies, and a revamped art style. The company has also created multiple new chat options as safety measures, which might help explain why users can't type in Among Us. In fact, not being able to type in chat within the game often comes down to what kind of account people are using.
There's actually a very good reason for why it appears Among Us removed chat features. When the Airship update arrived, it also included a new account system for Among Us. Signing up for an account is completely free, but it's also entirely optional. Instead, users can play the game in Guest Mode and avoid registering with an account altogether. However, this is likely the main reason players can't type in Among Us when trying to using the in-game chat.
How To Fix Among Us' Typing In Chat Problem
For any users playing Among Us in Guest Mode, typing in chat is inaccessible. Instead, they'll have to communicate by using the new Quickchat wheel, which features a long list of pre-generated responses, questions, and more. Alternatively, users who sign up for an account but are under the age of 13 will also have to use the Quickchat wheel as an added safety measure. So, if players aren't able to type in Among Us anymore, this is why.
Thankfully, there's a fairly easy fix for players over the age of 13 who don't want to use Among Us' Quickchat feature. In order to start typing in the chat again, users will just need to create a free account, sign in, and use it when playing the game. This will allow typing in chat once more - and for players who prefer not to type in Among Us and use Quickchat instead, but still have an account, they can easily keep that new feature as an option, too.
While a big focus of Among Us' latest updates has been on changing and improving maps and crewmate designs, some of the smaller details (like the account system) may have gotten overlooked by fans. Thankfully, being able to type in the chat in Among Us is a pretty simple fix and is a completely free option for users over the age of 13. So for anyone who can't type in Among Us, the most likely cause is because they are playing the game while using Guest Mode.
