Among Us Needs An InGame Friends List
Among Us desperately needs to add an in-game friends list, and thankfully developers are aware. Why is this needed and when will it be implemented?

There is a lot that is currently being asked of Among Us developers as the game continues to thrive since it's 2018 release, and an in-game friends list is one of the most requested features. Thankfully, the InnerSloth team is well aware, and is making this a top priority, so hopefully Among Us players will be able to keep track of each other soon.
Currently, outside applications like Discord are the best way to keep track of friends and play with desired teammates. Yet oftentimes people meet other random Among Us players who they enjoy gaming with, and who can be hard to stay in contact with unless that personal information is divulged during a game. That's not always the safest way for this exchange, but as of now there aren't a lot of other options. Additionally, if a game crashes, it could be difficult to ever find that other player again. Among Us's server issues are also reportedly a big problem, which unfortunately allow for frequent crashes.
The good news is that an in-game friends list or account system for Among Us is something high on the developers' radar. In an announcement last month, InnerSloth stated that this is a feature they've been wanting to implement for a while now, and are very conscious of how essential this is to the future health of the game and community as a whole. The current challenge of including new features and fixing current issues is that Among Us's codebase is a bit outdated, so trying to add these changes smoothly is a lot more difficult than it should be.
Among Us Friend Account Systems Are Coming

Besides working with troublesome code, it's worth noting that the popular indie title only has three developers working on these changes. While it's impressive such a small team made such a successful game, this means it could take awhile before the next highly-anticipated Among Us update will release, as the team is already facing a lot of pressure to launch these desired changes. As a result, no timeframe has been announced yet. In addition to an in-game friends list, there are more new features expected in the next update. This naturally includes fixing server issues, but InnerSloth has also announced a new map and "LOTS of other things" to be incorporated as well.
While an in-game friends list would allow for users to keep better track of and add newly-encountered players, it would also let them be able to see what current friends are already online. This eliminates the need to reach out via other means to see if someone is available to play, as it would be obvious upon loading the game. Hopefully this new addition will also let users report disruptive players such as hackers and cheaters as well, or at least block them so they can't be encountered again. Currently, users can kick out certain players, but this doesn't penalize them nor guarantee they won't show up in a later game with a different server.
As InnerSloth diligently works towards enhancing Among Us, fans will have to make do with the game's current status for the time being. While this may feel annoying to some of the more impatient users, many are fine with a longer wait if it means better quality features and fixes are in store.
