Is the Mobile Version of Among Us Still Worth Playing
With so many different versions of Among Us available to play, is there any reason for fans to keep up with the game's mobile release?

Part of the explosive popularity of Among Us comes down to how easy it is to pick up and play. The COVID-19 pandemic had many looking for games that they could play remotely with their friends, which is a niche that Among Us was built for. The social deception title brought tons of friends together, with fans quickly finding ways to implement voice chat into the game via proximity chat.
The mobile version of Among Us saw a huge increase in downloads during the game's jump in popularity, as it was a great alternative to the Steam or itch.io versions for players who didn't own a computer or wanted a way to take the game on the go. However, as Among Us continues to get new updates, is there any reason to keep up with the game's mobile version?

The major differences between the PC and mobile versions of the game come down to content included. The PC version costs $5.00 and comes with a wider collection of cosmetic hats already unlocked. The mobile version is free to download, but hats will have to be purchased via in-app purchases. Of course, the PC version also has its fair share of paid cosmetics since the pet packs have to be purchased across all versions of the game.
Another big difference with the mobile version is that players will have to endure ads that help this version stay free-to-play. These ads aren't as terrible as other mobile titles, though they can sometimes feel intrusive. These ads may be annoying at times, but they don't ever interrupt the core gameplay of Among Us. The mobile version is certainly still fun and playable, though there are a few major draws to picking the PC version.
For one, it's much easier to use mods for the game, such as the previously mentioned proximity chat, with the PC version of the game. The game's controls are also much more customizable, with PC users able to pick between keyboard controls or using their mouse to mimic the game's touchscreen controls. The mobile game's controls tend to be seen as balanced when compared to the PC's controls.

With all of these differences in mind, the mobile version still has a significant player base for a good reason. It's a great way to play the game for free and on the go, and the crossplay support means players will never lack a lobby to join. The in-app purchases, lack of cosmetics and existence of ads are minor annoyances that don't take away from the core gameplay of Among Us.
For now, any future content updates are expected to come to all versions of the game. However, fans should keep in mind that a sequel to Among Us was at one point in production due to the game's coding limitations. This, along with the influx of new content and bigger maps, could potentially lead to support for the mobile version being dropped, especially since Among Us is on other mobile devices such as the Nintendo Switch. For now, though, the mobile version of Among Us is a great way to play an incredibly fun game for free.
